Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center Kallithea. Attiki, 2022

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, located in Kallithea, has a total area of 210,000 square meters and includes the National Opera, the National Library of Greece and the Stavros Niarchos Park.

The Park is fully operationally and topographically linked to the National Opera and the National Library. It is a vibrant and vital green lung, a breath of life for Athens and an important addition to a city with fewer per capita green spaces in Europe.

From the Mediterranean Garden, specially shaped helical paths lead to a mild uphill gradient to a 32 meter high. Beneath the ground is the building that houses the Library and the Opera, giving the hill the character of the "green roof" of the building. One of the largest in Europe. The planted roofs cover a total of 17,000 square meters of the Park's area.

The Mediterranean Garden highlights the rich horticultural tradition of Greece. The variety of plants is enough to make the Garden a destination. In total, 1450 trees and 280,000 shrubs and lawns have been planted in the Park and in the adjacent areas around it, such as the Esplanade and the Canal with the typical tree-lined trees.
